When you work with Insight-managed documents, you have the ability to define security at the document level rather than at the SharePoint database administrator level. The security is achieved through the creation and management of groups in SharePoint. Even though site administration is now separate from CAD administration, users and administrators must be part of a group to take advantage of this capability. If you are not part of a group, you can not revise a document or move folders when the property sets are different.
Note:
Users need appropriate permission in each SharePoint document library.
Two groups are available to provide security functions. They are the Document Control and Engineering Change groups.
Users who are a part of the Document Control group manage the documents and have the ability to perform actions available to a SharePoint Administrator, plus those provided by the group. This includes modifying a released document and moving a folder or document to another Document Library.
Users who are a part of the Engineering Change group have the ability to revise an Insight managed document.
You can define the location of the Document Control and Engineering Change groups using the options in Solid Edge Administrator, or by specifying the URL of the SharePoint group site location in the Manage page of the Solid Edge Options dialog box.
Note:
For information on creating groups in SharePoint, consult the Solid Edge SharePoint Implementation Guide.
