The Search command on the Open File dialog box provides you the ability to search for documents. You can search any folder, network drive, or managed library. You can search for documents using defined properties or a number of criteria, including mathematical operators and standard Boolean expressions. For a list of valid expressions, see the Search Criteria List.
After you define the search criteria, click the Search button to perform the search. The results of a search for unmanaged documents are displayed in the lower portion of the Search dialog box. You can double-click an unmanaged document in the results list to open it. For Insight-managed documents, you can right click on a document in the search results to:
Check the file in or out of the library.
Undo the checkout of the document.
Delete or rename the document, view properties for the document.
View revisions and markups for the document.
Do a where-used search to see where the document is used in other documents.
For unmanaged documents, you can right-click to open the document or perform a where-used search. When you conduct a where-used search on Insight-managed documents, Solid Edge uses the SearchScope.txt file to define the scope of the search. You can use the Where Used dialog box to define the location you want to use in the where-used search. After conducting a where-used search on a document, you can expand the nodes in the Where Used Results dialog box until you get the information you need.
You can use the Property Manager button on the unmanaged or Insight-managed Search dialog box to display the properties for each document. You cannot edit the property values. However, you can right-click an occupied row in the grid to display a shortcut menu that allows you to do such things as change the font, sort the properties, find and replace text, and format columns. You can double-click near a column divider to do a best fit on the grid. Any changes you make to the columns are stored for future sessions.
