In the Draft environment, the General tab in the Solid Edge Options dialog box controls settings such as the display of 3D effects and the number of entries in the list of recently used files. In also controls whether Draft file data can be displayed in View and Markup and Solid Edge Viewer.
Recently used files list
Displays a list of recently used documents in the Recent Files area. When this option is set, you can also specify the maximum number of entries you want to include in the list, up to 100.
Undo steps
Sets the number of operations that can be undone.
Revision delimiter
Specifies the delimiting character used by the Revisions command to separate the document's name from the revision number.
Update links automatically at open
Updates links to foreign data automatically when you open the Draft document. For example, you can insert a Microsoft Word document into a Solid Draft document using the Object command. Later, if you make changes to the Word document and save it, then open the Solid Edge document, the inserted Word document is updated automatically.
Display unit of measurement labels
Displays the units of measurement in value boxes.
Include Draft Viewer data in file
Specifies whether to include the metafile data when the document is saved. This data is needed if you want to view the saved document with View and Markup and Solid Edge Viewer.
To control the file size of the resulting Draft document, use the following check boxes. You can specify which sheets you want to include, and you can exclude unused sheets from being saved.
Note:
At least one sheet selection box must be checked, or no metafile data is saved with the Draft document.
Save colors as black and white
Specifies whether the viewer data is saved as black (foreground) and white (background).
If you do not need to see color in the Draft viewer, then you can reduce the file size by selecting this check box.
Include Working Sheets
Specifies that all working sheets in the document are available for review in a Draft viewer.
The working sheets are where all 3D model drawing views, dimensions, and annotations are placed.
Include 2D Model Sheet
Specifies that the 2D Model sheet is available for review in a Draft viewer. If this sheet is blank, then you should clear this check box.
The 2D Model sheet is where you can draw, dimension, and annotate geometry at 1:1 scale before you create 2D model views of the 2D design and place them on a working sheet.
Include Background Sheets
Specifies that all background sheets are displayed in the Draft viewer.
A background sheet is used as a backdrop to the working sheet.

Enable value changes using the mouse wheel
When checked, rotating the wheel zooms in and out of the model view. With this as the default, you still can change a value in a value edit box by holding Ctrl while you rotate the wheel.
When unchecked, rotating the wheel changes a value in the value edit box. You can use Ctrl+rotate to zoom in and out of the model view.
Check for model changes made by another user while draft file is open
Specifies whether Solid Edge checks the associated model file for changes since the Draft file was last opened before a drawing view update. Generally, this check is only useful in concurrent access workflows in which a file management system such as Insight is not used. If your workflows do not have these characteristics, then clearing this check box can improve update performance.
Assembly configuration changes make drawing views out-of-date in this draft file
Specifies automatic checking for display configuration changes for all assembly views in a draft document. The display configuration stores both the show or hide state, and the simplified or designed status, of the parts in the assembly.
When you set this option, you do not need to check the status of individual drawing views using the Configuration Check button on the Display tab of the Drawing View Properties dialog box.
Note:
Requirement—The Configuration Match option on the Display tab also must be set for the selected view.
Include reference, sketch, and construction items from configurations
Controls how assembly configurations and PMI model views are used in drawing views.
When checked, specifies that drawing views show all of the model objects and design elements that are in the selected assembly display configuration. In addition to the solid design bodies, you can show surfaces, curves, centerlines, sketches, coordinate systems, and reference planes.
When unchecked, specifies that drawing views only show the design bodies in the assembly display configuration.
Example:
To reduce complexity in a drawing, you can use this option to display tube, pipe, or frame centerlines without displaying the solid bodies of the tubes, pipes, or frames.
Enable sheet distance dimension values on dimensions placed between drawing views
Specifies how dimension values are derived for dimensions placed between drawing views of the same model.
When set, dimension values are based on sheet distance.
When cleared, dimension values are based on true model distance. Model distance is the default.
Property Text Error
Determines the error displayed when custom properties are undefined.
Do not show error—No errors are displayed in the event custom properties are not defined.
Show Solid Edge error—Displays the standard Solid Edge error messages.
Show my error—Specifies the error message to display when property text and custom properties are undefined. Use the text box to type the error message string.
