For draft documents that you only want to view and print, you can set a preference to open the file in inactive mode. No out-of-date checking is performed. You can make limited modifications to the drawing, such as adding new dimensions and annotations and adjusting the position of existing ones.
Choose Application menu→Open.
In the Open File dialog box, from the Files of Type list, select Draft Documents (*.dft) so that only draft documents are listed.
From the list, select a draft document you want to open.
Click Inactivate Drawing Views For Review.
(Optional) If you want to make this the default open mode, click Save As Default.
Click OK to open the draft document in inactive mode.
Tip:
Once the document is open, you can reset the drawing to normal edit mode using the Activate Drawing Views command.
