You can display and hide reference elements (reference planes, construction curves, coordinate systems and so forth) in the Place Part window only when a part is selected for placement or editing.

When a part is selected for placement or editing, on the command bar, click the Construction Display button.

Select the Show or Hide option for the reference element you want. |
Tip:
You can use reference elements to position parts in an assembly. For example, you can use a reference plane to apply a planar align relationship.
