You can only assign geometry to a virtual component when a sketch window is open.

                   In Assembly PathFinder, select a virtual component entry.  |

                   On the shortcut menu, click Edit Definition.  |

                   In the sketch window, select the 2D geometry that you want to assign to the virtual component, then click the Accept button.  | 
            
| Step 4. | 
                  
                   In the sketch window, define the origin and x-axis direction.  | 
            
| Step 5. | 
                  
                   On the Edit Definition command bar, in the Publish On list, select the sketch plane on which you want the virtual component published.  | 
            
Tip:
You can use the options on the command bar to specify that you want to use a free space point as the origin or two keypoints to define the origin and x-axis.
The Publish On option allows you to specify which of the three base reference planes on which the virtual component is published.
