Move Faces command bar

Main Steps

Select Faces Step

Select the faces, features, or bodies you want to move. Click Accept to confirm your selections and advance to the next step, or click Cancel to discard the current input and start over.

Movement Step

Specifies how you want to move the selected faces.

From Point Step

Specifies the first point that defines the distance you want to move the faces.

To Point Step

Specifies the second point that defines the distance you want to move the faces.

Cancel/Finish

This button changes function as you move through the feature construction process. A preview of your changes is displayed as you complete the To Point Step. The Finish button constructs the feature using input provided in the other steps. Once you construct the feature, you can edit it by re-selecting the appropriate step on the command bar. The Cancel button discards input up to the point of finishing the move function, then exits the command. Click Undo on the Edit menu to discard all changes if you have already clicked Finish.

Select Faces Step Options

Automatically Select Blends

Automatically selects blends which are adjacent to the selected faces. This option is useful when you also want to move adjacent tangent faces, such as fillets or rounds on a part.

Select

Defines the faces or bodies you want to move.

  • Face--Specifies that you want to select individual faces.

  • Feature--Specifies that you want to select one or more features.

  • Body--Specifies that you want to select an entire body. This option is useful when working with imported data and you want to reposition it in a precise location. For example, you may want to reposition the body with respect to other parts in an assembly.

Deselect (x)

Clears the selection.

Accept (check mark)

Accepts the selection.

Movement Step Options

Movement Type

Specifies how you want to move the selected faces.

  • Along 2 Point Vector--Specifies that you want to move the set of faces between two points you define.

  • Along Edge--Specifies that you want to move the set of faces along a path you select. You can select an edge or chain of edges to define the path.

  • Along Face Normal--Specifies that you want to move the set of faces normal to a face you select.

  • In Plane--Specifies that you want to move the set of faces coplanar to a planar face or reference plane you select.

Distance

Sets the distance to move the faces.

Deselect (x)

Deselects the selected elements.

Accept (check mark)

Accepts the selected elements.

Vector From Point

Defines the first point for the Along Two Point Vector option. This option is only available when using the Along Two Point Vector option.

Vector To Point

Defines the second point for the Along Two Point Vector option. This option is only available when using the Along Two Point Vector option.

Keypoints

Sets the type of key point you can select. This option is only available when using the Along Two Point Vector option. The available key point options are specific to the command and workflow you use.

Selects any key point.

Selects an end point.

Selects a midpoint.

Selects the center point of a circle or arc.

Selects a tangency point on an analytic curved face such as a cylinder, sphere, torus, or cone.

Selects a silhouette point.

Selects an edit point on a curve.

Move From Step Options

Keypoints

Sets the type of key point you can select.

Move To Step Options

Distance

Sets the distance to extend the feature.

Offset

Specifies the distance to move as an offset from another face or feature. For example, you can select a point on a face as the From Point and then specify that the To Point is offset 10 millimeters from the face you selected.

Other command bar Options

Name

Displays the feature name. Feature names are assigned automatically. You can edit the name by typing a new name in the box on the command bar or by selecting the feature and using the Rename command on the shortcut menu.
