AutoCAD To Solid Edge Translation - Step 1 of 8

Configuration File

Displays the name of the AutoCAD configuration file that you want to use for the imported file. This file contains the user-defined settings, such as font, and line type mapping. The configuration file used by default is seacad.ini which is located in the Solid Edge Program folder. This file name and folder are reserved for Solid Edge Draft and cannot be overwritten.

User-defined configuration files that are used across network drives or defined through network drives are supported.

You can click the Browse button to select the configuration file that you want to use.

Show Layers

Displays a list of layers found in the AutoCAD file being imported. By selecting a layer, you can preview the layer before importing the file. This gives you an idea of how the different layers will appear in the draft file. The selection of layers has no affect on what is imported to the draft file. For example, your AutoCAD file may have five different layers, but you only have two of the layers selected for preview. When imported, the draft file will contain all five layers.

Background Color

Displays a list of background colors.

View

Displays an image of the selected layers in the AutoCAD file. To display the layers, click the Preview button. You can zoom, fit, and pan the layers within the View area. All view manipulations are specific to the view area and do not affect the appearance of the AutoCAD file once it is imported to Solid Edge.

Preview

Previews the AutoCAD file prior to translation. When you click the button, the layer information is populated and the image in the View area is updated. If you page through the wizard and return to this page, you must re-select the Preview button to refresh this information.

Custom View

Allows you to map the current view orientation in the active AutoCAD file to a standard view orientation provided by AutoCAD. The drop down list contains ten orientations from which you can choose. The displayed value defaults to the orientation in the AutoCAD file. For example, if the vector for the view is 0, 0, 1, it is recognized as the top view, and Top is displayed. If the view is unknown or is not defined as one of the ten standard AutoCAD views, the displayed value defaults to Custom View.

When you select a view orientation, the preview updates to reflect the selected orientation and the orientation name is stored in the Name= parameter in the configuration file.

This option is available only for model space drawings.

Translate Sheet(s)

Allows you to translate a selected sheet or all sheets in the file.

If you select a sheet that is not listed in the AutoCAD file, all sheets are imported. If you select a paper space sheet, the corresponding graphics in the model space are also translated.

Write Solid Bodies to SAT File

Allows you to translate the AutoCAD solid bodies to .SAT file format.

Next

Moves to the next dialog box of the Import Translation Wizard.

Finish

Finishes the wizard and returns to the Open File dialog box.
