On the Application menu, point to Save As, then choose Save Selected Model. |

Select the part in the assembly that you want to save as a new document. |

On the Save Selected Model dialog box, in the File Name box, type a new name for the document. |
| Step 4. |
In the Save As Type box, select the document format you want to use. |
Note:
Creating a new document is useful when the part contains assembly features, and you want to create a part document that includes those features. You can use the new document to create a drawing, or for manufacturing or analysis purposes.
You can save the new document as a Solid Edge Part or Sheet Metal document. The new document is associative to the parent document.
