The Retrieve Dimensions command copies PMI dimensions and annotations from a 3D model to orthogonal and section drawing views.
The Retrieve Dimensions command retrieves:
3D PMI dimensions and annotations from parts, sheet metal, and top-level assemblies.
2D sketch dimensions and annotations from models.
From features created in the ordered environment, feature extent dimensions. These are generated automatically when you extrude or revolve a profile to create a 3D feature.
From XpresRoute piping and Frame Design structural models, the Retrieve Dimensions command copies these 3D dimensions: linear, angular, and radial.
You also can use this command to retrieve 2D view dimensions and place them on the drawing sheet.
You can retrieve dimensions and annotations or remove retrieved dimensions and annotations. The default mode is to retrieve them. You can change the mode using these buttons on the Retrieve Dimensions command bar:
Add Dimensions
Remove Dimensions
The retrieved dimensions and annotations are formatted with the dimension style you select on the Retrieve Dimensions command bar. You also can use the options on the command bar to specify what types of dimensions are retrieved.
The options on the Retrieve Dimensions command bar retrieve both sketch and PMI dimensions. This includes dimensions placed on sketch elements that have not been consumed through sketch migration and dimensions placed on the model.
The Retrieve Dimensions command retrieves most types of annotations, including callouts, feature control frames, and edge condition symbols.
PMI dimensions and annotations that can be retrieved from models must meet these requirements:
They are attached to a model edge that is visible in the drawing view.
They are on a dimension plane parallel to the drawing view.
