You can add dimensions and annotations to part views based on the PMI dimensions and annotations that exist in the part, sheet metal, or top-level assembly model. You also can retrieve 3D dimensions from piping and frame design models.
Open a Draft document that contains part views.
Choose the Home tab→Dimension group→Retrieve Dimensions command .
On the Retrieve Dimensions command bar, in the Properties group, set or clear the retrieval options as desired.
By default, all dimension types and annotations are selected to be retrieved.
Click an orthographic or section part view.
This creates the applicable dimensions and annotations in the part view based on the dimensions and annotations in the model.
Tip:
You cannot retrieve dimensions and annotations in derived views (detail and auxiliary) or isometric views.
Click another part view, or press Esc to end the command.
Choose the Home tab→Dimension group→Retrieve Dimensions command .
On the Retrieve Dimensions command bar, in the Add/Remove group, click Remove Dimensions.
Click the drawing view from which you want to remove the dimensions and annotations.
Tip:
The Retrieve Dimensions command does not copy dimensions to the Clipboard.
Dimensions created by this command are always driven (locked).
