Status tab, Document Properties dialog box

Displays the current state of the document, including the document hierarchy and related status values. This tab displays the document tree, or hierarchy, of the active document. The active document appears at the top of the view. You can track and protect documents as they progress through the project cycle.

The status of a document determines its point in its life cycle. A change in a document's status affects other documents if the active document contains other documents. A document tree consists of a top-level document and subdocuments. The documents that are part of the top-level document are called subdocuments. When a top-level document is released or baselined, all the subdocuments must follow. The Status tab displays the document tree. You can browse parts of the document tree.

Note:

You cannot edit the document properties on this tab in Solid Edge Find Files.

View

Displays a document and its subdocuments in a tree structure. The active document appears at the top of the list. If the document is a document set, you can browse the members of the set.

Each branch of the tree displays a relationship between documents. You can click + or - to display or hide the subdocuments. Icons for the status of each document appear next to each document icon in the tree.

If you click a document, the status of the document appears in the Document Status box. If a document is available for write, you can change the status of the document by clicking Available, In Work, In Review, Released, or Baselined.

Select All

Selects all documents in the document set. Any change in status affects all the documents.

Select All Children

Selects only the documents within the tree of the current document. You can also change the status of subtrees with this option.

Reset All

Allows you to undo changes to the document tree.

Status Of

Displays the status of the document you have selected in the document tree.

Change Status To

Changes the status of the document.

Available

Shows that any author can access the selected document. An author can change the status of the document to one of the following: In Work, In Review, Released, Baselined, or Obsolete. You can use this option to change the document's status. If the active document is not part of a set, you can change the status of the document from Available to any other state.

In Work

Shows that someone is currently working on the selected document. The name of the person working on the document displays next to the document name in the View box.  You cannot change the status of this document unless you are the person working on the document or a coordinator.  If the active document is not part of a document set, you can change the status from In Work to any other state if you are the person who set the document's status originally.  Other users will be able to check out the document, but it will be opened read-only in Solid Edge.

In Review

Shows that the document is being reviewed by another user. Any user can edit the document. The status can be changed from In Review to any other status.

Released

Shows that the selected document has been approved. Once released, the document is read-only for everyone except a Coordinator. A Coordinator can open a released document in a managed library with read-write access. Although other users cannot change this document, they can create a revision of this document. The new document will have its own life-cycle. You can change the document to Baselined so that no one can make edits to the document.

Baselined

Shows that the selected document is frozen from further edits.  Once baselined, the document is read-only. Although you cannot change this document, you can use the Save As command in Solid Edge or the Set Action to Revise command in Revision Manager to create a new revision of the document. The new revision will have its own life cycle. If the document is baselined and resides in a managed folder, then all users, including Coordinators, can open the document as read-only.

Obsolete

Shows the document is no longer the latest revision, but is still available for viewing.  A Coordinator can make changes to the document but other users are not allowed to make changes.
