You can either open or edit (in-place activate) an OLE object that was inserted with the Insert Object command or copied and pasted into the document. The options available on the shortcut menu depend on the application it was created in, what type of object it is, and how it was inserted into the document.
Select an OLE object.
Do one of the following:
If the object is linked, right-click to display the shortcut menu, and then choose Open to open the application the object was created in.
Example:
If the object is a graph that originated in Excel, then choose Worksheet→Open from the shortcut menu.
If the object is embedded, right-click to display the shortcut menu, and then choose either the Open command or the Edit command.
The Edit command in-place activates the object for editing using commands from the application the object was created in.
Example:
If the object is a chart that was created in a Microsoft Word document using the Graph command, then choose Chart→Edit from the shortcut menu.
Save the changes and return to the document.
Tip:
You also can double-click an embedded object to activate it for in-place editing.
You can change the behavior of double-click to open the object (instead of editing it) using the option, Double-click to open embedded objects in native app (Excel, Word, etc.), on the General tab in the Solid Edge Options dialog box (Draft environment).
You can edit the object properties, such as its position on the document, scale, and border, using the Properties command on the object shortcut menu.
